Hi everyone, well, have been taking the 10mg of amtitriptilyne since Friday evening. It does help, still wake up with pain, but get back to sleep much quicker, so definitely a winner!! Had a day off work today, Amelies dad was off so he has had her. Roy and me went out for lunch, a rarity!!! Hope everyones Christmas preparations going ok, and not too stressful!! Take care x BARBARA

Pleased to here that it is helping a little, I remembered that is what I said to the Doc when I first started taking it. I'm glad that you had such a lovely day today, it does help to have a special treet every now and again. Glenys.

Great news!
I am glad, when I took it I was barely able to function during the day which wasn't conducive to teaching the children! Made me sleep though...tempted to re-try it actually!
Much love,
Amanda

After taking the amttriptilyne for 4 nights its working well, its the first morning I have had to get up for the baby today at 5.45, so was a bit woozy!!! Very tired all day, but more pain than usual, headache and skin red and itchy but sore, not sure if its start of a flare RA/lupus or something to do with maybe having MCTD. Who knows??? I just know its worse today than has been, and was off for the last 3 days, so not been doing too much. Hope everyone is ok BARBARA

After trying different times of taking the Amytriptyline in the evening I now take it each time at between 8 30 and 9. I now have to take 50mg, I don't have any trouble in the mornings. I think its worth trying different times yourself. I do hope that you are not starting with a flare. Take care. Glenys x

This drug has really changed my life as it's helped the pain in my leg so I get a good night's sleep. I try and take it around 8 p.m. so it's in my system by bedtime and I have time to sleep it off. I am very nervous of drugs so cut the tablet in 4 to start with and it took me about three weeks before I was taking the whole 10mg tablet. This might be a good idea for you Amanda as it gives your system a chance to get used to it.

I take amitryptline every night, 2x50mg. it sounds a lot, but I don't get hungover or suffer any side effects with it. My prescription actually says to take 3, but unless I'm in a lot of pain I only take 2. They have been my lifesaver.

Dear Lyn,
Did you say you take 100mg a night? That's interesting as I was unable to take 10mg...
Mind you with this lack of sleep I am seriously considering getting another prescription as they are still there in my long line of meds!
Love, Amanda

Dear Brenda,
Thank you so much for your suggestion. I am the same as you regarding any new meds...I will break them up into miniscule pieces (and then drop them down the side of the bed or in the bed!LOL) and try them out.
With the Amit I was begun on 10mg, to increase to 25mg a night. This was for the hip pain before they dx bone erosion...
I did once try 5mg and a quarter of another one, maybe I will try again especially with the holidays coming up where I am not required to be marking grammar or long multiplication! LOL
I also did this with the diazepam and mtx..
Love, Amanda

Amanda - please make sure that the instructions don't say "to be taken whole". Breaking tablets up isn't always adviseable becaue of possible tum probs! Lots of love Jeanxxxxx
